The Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) is seeking a full-time

Deputy Director

ACA is a European federation of nationally based organizations which promote internationalisation in higher education. ACA produces studies and evaluations, and it organises international seminars and conferences. For more information, please consult www.aca-secretariat.be.


Tasks

The Deputy Director will support the ACA Director in all matters. He/she will

• Be involved in the policy development of ACA
• Take a central role in the management of the ACA Secretariat
• Be in charge of membership relations, and sustain and increase ACA’s membership base
• Liaise with ACA’s main stakeholders, i.e. the European Commission, national government, private foundations and like bodies
• Be centrally involved in ACA research and analysis projects
• Be involved in the development and the delivery of ACA events
• Support the ACA Director in the outside representation of ACA


Profile

Candidates for the post of the Deputy Director of ACA should

  • Normally have at least five years of professional experience in the area of (international) higher education
  • Show a high level of commitment to the concerns of ACA and to its further development
  • Be highly motivated, flexible, willing to work unusual hours and able to perform under stress
  • Have very good communicative skills, and be able to address ACA’s various and often high-level target audiences effectively
  • Have demonstrable advanced skills in the area of higher education research, and be able to lead larger-scale projects independently
  • Have good fund-raising abilities and be cost-conscious
  • Have a near-native-speaker command of English and hopefully master further foreign languages
  • Be an easy and compelling speaker
  • Avail of advanced organizational skills
  • Preferably have worked outside of her/his country of birth

The preferred start date of the ACA Deputy Director is 1 January 2010. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2009.

The salary is to be negotiated and dependent on experience and quality of the applicant.
